The TP-Link Archer C54 packs AC1200 dual-band Wi-Fi into a small, black, wall-friendly body. Its 5 GHz band runs at up to 867 Mbps and the 2.4 GHz band at up to 300 Mbps, giving smoother streaming and gaming than older N300 routers while keeping the price of entry low.
Four external antennas work with Beamforming to focus signal on your devices, and MU-MIMO helps when several phones and laptops are busy at the same time. It is well suited to a two- to three-bedroom flat or a small office with roughly 10 to 15 connected devices on an internet package of up to 100 Mbps, since the wired ports are 10/100 Mbps.
Beyond normal router duty it can switch to Access Point or Range Extender mode, which is handy if you want to reuse it to strengthen Wi-Fi from an ISP-supplied router. Parental controls, a guest network, IPv6 and WPA3 are all available from the Tether app or web page.
